Compute Canada Consultations

Compute Canada is seeking input from researchers and other stakeholders in preparation for its upcoming submission to CFI for Major Science Initiatives (MSI) funding.  Compute Canada, in partnership with regional organizations ACENET, WestGrid, Compute Ontario, and Calcul Québec, leads the acceleration of research innovation by deploying state-of-the-art advanced research computing (ARC) systems, storage and software solutions. Together these partners provide essential ARC services and infrastructure for Canadian researchers and their collaborators in all academic and industrial sector

The funding proposal to CFI will address the operational needs and updated capital plan for advanced research computing infrastructure over the period 2017-2022.

The Sustainable Planning for Advanced Research Computing (SPARC-2) consultations will inform this submission, so all disciplines are encouraged to share domain-specific forecasts, advanced research computing (ARC) needs, and their data storage and preservation requirements.

There are three ways to participate. First, ACENET will be hosting three consultation sessions. These will be led by Compute Canada executives, who will provide updates and gather feedback. There will be a session on February 10th, 9:30-11:30am, at Dalhousie University, Student Union Building, Room 307.  Please pre-register for this event.

Researchers can also choose to submit White Papers addressing the future needs of specific research disciplines or institutions. The deadline for submission is March 1st, 2016.

Finally, you can complete an online survey.

Input is welcomed from researchers, students, faculty, librarians, and the broader group of -Compute Canada/ACENET stakeholders.
