Dr. Jennifer Provencher wins prestigious Liber Ero Post-Doctoral Award

Dr. Jennifer Provencher, a Weston Post-Doctoral Fellow in Northern Research at Acadia University, was recently awarded a prestigious, two-year Liber Ero Post-Doctoral Award. The Liber Ero Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program supports early-career scientists as they conduct and communicate world-class research that informs conservation and management issues relevant to Canada.

Dr. Provencher’s research primarily focuses on assessing how marine ecosystems are impacted from human related activities, such as climate change, pollution, shipping, and fisheries. This includes micro- and macro-pollutants, with a focus on plastics, cumulative effects, and fisheries bycatch in the Arctic region. Dr. Provencher is known for being an exceptional and highly prolific researcher (in 2017 alone, she published 11 scholarly articles).

In collaboration with various partners, this award will enable Dr. Provencher to continue her research at Acadia University, working closely with Dr. Mark Mallory, Canada Research Chair in Coastal Wetland Ecosystems.
