Meet our Innovacorp Voucher Winners: Zinc Inc!
The boat building industry is facing a challenge with premature corrosion. Zinc Sacrificial Anode Inc. (“ZincInc”) is an innovative, Digby-based company that manufactures sacrificial anodes to prevent corrosion on boat hulls. While these products can save companies huge maintenance costs, their use has declined and ZincInc has struggled to make new boat-builders/owners understand their importance and their appropriate use.
In a Tier II Voucher project, ZincInc will work with Acadia Chemistry professor, Dr. Vlad Zamlynny, a specialist in electrochemistry, to develop a user-friendly software program that will help customers’ position anodes and understand how much product is needed to achieve the best protection for their vessels’ hull.
